Walking and Working Surfaces: Comprehensive Training – Concise Version

All workers have something in common: the need for safe and secure walking and working surfaces. This need is so important OSHA has a dedicated regulation, 29 CFR 1910, Subpart D, concerning walking and working surfaces. This course teaches employees about the safe work practices covered in this regulation, including the nature of fall hazards and how to recognize them, as well as the procedures to minimize those hazards. It is important the walking and working surface be kept clear of trip and slip hazards, examples of which are provided in this course. Falling from an elevated surface may also pose a risk, and your employer has an obligation to provide you with fall protection, including guardrails, safety nets, or personal fall protection systems, under specific circumstances. If you have a personal fall protection system, you should be trained on its proper use, which you will learn about here. It is important for your safety, as well as the safety of those around you, to understand, identify, and mitigate those risks. Utilize the information presented in this training video and learn to lessen your risk of falls at work.
