Proximity Bias Prevention
With more of us working in hybrid or remote environments, proximity bias is more prevalent than we may realize. Favoring people or ideas that are physically close to us impacts individuals and organizations. This online training shows what you can do to mitigate the negative effects to foster a more equitable workplace. This training first defines proximity bias and gives examples for further understanding. Many potential consequences can occur from proximity bias such as higher turnover, lower engagement, and less inclusion. This course discusses how organizations can mitigate these effects such as by providing opportunities for everyone to participate. It also provides ways in which individuals can prevent proximity bias. We all want strong, healthy relationships with our colleagues and to be valued for our work. Proximity bias can undermine these goals. This training helps teams become more aware of proximity bias and how it impacts everyone.
